What a Year It Was!
We began our coursing club more than a year ago now (the fall of 2023). We started a FB page, Instagram, X (formerly known as Twitter), etc. And we applied for ASFA Membership as well. We were accepted into their Fast Track Affiliate program. Next steps included starting the bank account, gaining supporters (Club members), and procuring equipment. Can’t hold a lure coursing trial without equipment! Oh, and that equipment was purchased from an online auction we held which was coordinated by Hope Wright who did a fabulous job! We’re Official
I received notifcation from the Secretary of State’s office (State of Georgia) that we are official. “This is a confirmation that the business formation filing for LEGS Coursing Club, Inc. has been successfully filed with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office on 12/08/2023 11:11 AM. A digital confirmation and receipt have also been sent to the filer’s inbox.” We are an official non-profit with the State of Georgia. Since we’re a club, we’re a 501c7! So excited – lots to do now that we have that under our belt. It’s going to take a village but I know we can do this!

Our Humble Beginnings
Where to begin? It became quite clear to a few of us who lure course our hounds that our region (ASFA Region 7) needs more ASFA lure coursing trials, most especially in the North Alabama and North Georgia areas. So an idea was launched on Facebook which has resulted in the effort to start a Club based out of Atlanta called LEGS Coursing Club. It’s funny because the LEGS part is the acronym for Lure Enthusiasts of Georgia Sighthounds. And the idea to start this Club has gained “legs” as well so off we go.
